Ice-T Assists Niftify in Launching NFT Marketplace in the United States

Hic et Nunc 'Discontinued' Tezos NFT Marketplace – KogoCrypto - ThePressFreeAre you an ice-cold American who wishes for an Ice-T Christmas? You'll have to make do with rain and snow until January 4th.

That's when Niftify, the NFT marketplace that's launching in the United States, will drop 10,000 non-fungible tokens in the shape of the O.G. rapper, producer, and film star.

Niftify, the brainchild of co-founders Bruno Ver and Emil Sterndorff, began in beta in October for users outside the United States and leverages Polygon, an Ethereum-compatible blockchain construction and linking protocol.

In November, the marketplace made an Ice-T collection available to users outside of the United States. Tommy the Animator, a digital artist based in Latest York City, made the new release as well.

According to Niftify co-founder Bruno Ver, the release commemorates "three crucial moments" in Ice-career: T's the debut of the O.G. Original Gangster album in 1991, the release of the film "New Jack City" in 1991, and Ice-addition T's to the cast of "Law & Order SVU" in 2000.

The protest song "Cop Killer," written from the perspective of a character fed up with police brutality, was featured on Ice-1992 T's album "Body Count," which sparked nationwide outrage. The rapper-turned-actor went on to have a successful career in cinema and television, eventually starring in the "Law & Order" franchise as NYPD Detective Odafin Tutuola.

Niftify will take advantage of the Ice-T launch to join a growing list of NFT marketplaces that are powered by proof-of-stake (POS) blockchains, which consume less energy than Ethereum. Rarible announced plans to support Tezos NFTs earlier this month..Exodus just teamed with Magic Eden, a popular Solana NFT store, to deliver an in-app marketplace within Exodus' mobile wallet.

Polygon, on the other hand, uses a proof-of-stake sidechain to reduce its energy consumption and transaction costs. Layer-2 solutions, such as Polygon, are constructed on top of an existing blockchain, in this case Ethereum, which has significant gas fees and minting expenses.

Niftify will also include a fiat on-ramp, allowing collectors to buy NFTs with a credit or debit card, according to Ver.

"We want to democratize the blockchain and specifically NFTs," he said. "If we just keep accepting only crypto we will continue to speak among ourselves. If we dream of mainstream adoption, we need to roll out the red carpet, bring the confetti and allow people to swipe, tap, type, or whatever they prefer to purchase their favorite NFT."
